Four Chinese marine surveillance vessels on Tuesday patrolled the territorial waters around the Diaoyu Islands, according to the State Oceanic Administration (SOA).
The fleet monitored Japanese ships illegally entering the waters, in order to collect evidence of infringement on China's sovereignty.
It also declared the Chinese government's stance on the Diaoyu Islands to the Japanese ships, the SOA said.
