A taskforce of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) wrapped up its open sea training in the West Pacific Ocean and sailed back to a military port in Zhoushan City of east China's Zhejiang Province at around 08:30 on December 11, 2012.

The taskforce which was composed of such military strength of the East China Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy as the "Hangzhou" and "Ningbo" guided missile destroyers, the "Zhoushan" and "Ma'anshan" guided missile frigates, the "Poyang Lake" comprehensive supply ship and ship-borne helicopters set sail from Zhoushan on November 27 and got into the West Pacific Ocean through the Miyako Strait.

During the 15-day-long open sea training, the taskforce carried out such training subjects as open sea operations; ship-aircraft joint search and rescue and high sea comprehensive supply, covering a total voyage of 3,800 nautical miles. The training tested tactics and training methods as well as equipment effectiveness of the taskforce. It improved troop unit's capability for performing open sea missions and tempered the fighting will and spirit of daring to fight to win of the officers and men.

The taskforce patrolled the waters near the Diaoyu Islands when it sailed back to the East China Sea through the nearby waters of the Yonaguni Island and the Iriomote Island on December 10, 2012.
