Fan Changlong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), met with Tomasz Siemoniak, the visiting minister of national defense of Poland, on the morning of May 24, 2013 in Beijing.

Fan said that Poland is one of the first countries to have established diplomatic relations with China. The two countries have always maintained friendly relations. The bilateral relations have been developing healthily and steadily in recent years, as evidenced by frequent high-level reciprocal visits, increasingly deepened mutual political trust and constantly expanded cooperation in various fields. He hoped that the two sides will make joint efforts to push forward the development of China-Poland strategic partnership.

Fan pointed out that as an important component of the relations between the two countries, the relations between the Chinese and Polish militaries develop satisfactorily. Leaders of the two militaries have made frequent reciprocal visits, pragmatic exchanges and cooperation in various fields have been steadily advanced and mutual understanding has been constantly deepened, which has promoted the construction of each other's national defense and military. He hoped that the two sides will continue to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation in such fields as high-level reciprocal visits, personnel training and international peacekeeping operations, so as to constantly uplift the level and improve the quality of the relations between the two militaries.

Siemoniak said that he was very delighted to see that with the development of the relations between the two countries, the friendly and cooperative relations between the two militaries have also been constantly deepened. Both Poland and China are peace-loving countries. He hoped that the two militaries will deepen strategic exchanges and pragmatic cooperation, so as to make contributions to all-around development of the relations between the two countries.

Hou Shusen, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), Hu Changming, deputy director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), and Tadeusz Chomicki, Polish ambassador to China, were present at the meeting.
