Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), met with Oleksandr Oliynyk, the visiting first deputy minister of defense of Ukraine, and his party on the afternoon of May 27, 2013 in Beijing.
Xu Qiliang said that China and Ukraine have achieved fruitful results from the bilateral cooperation in various fields since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The relations between the Chinese and Ukrainian militaries are an important component of the relations between the two countries. We are delighted to see close high-level contacts of the two militaries, constantly deepened strategic mutual trust, and pragmatic and efficient cooperation in professional fields in recent years. The Chinese side adopts a positive attitude towards developing friendly and cooperative relations between the two militaries and believes that the relations between the two militaries will surely be promoted to a new high on the principle of mutual trust, mutual learning and mutual benefit with the efforts of both sides.
Oliynyk appreciated the comment Xu Qiliang made on the relations between the two countries and the two militaries and spoke highly of the visit Xu Qiliang previously paid to Ukraine. He said that the two countries and their militaries share profound traditional friendship and believe that the visit will produce positive results and expand the cooperation in various fields between the two militaries.
Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), was present at the meeting.
