The 16th escort fleet of Chinese navy ended a three-day friendly visit to Angola and left the Luanda harbor on Saturday for Namibia on its African tour.
At 4:00 p.m. local time, missile frigate Yancheng, the flag ship of the fleet, left the harbor with another frigate Luoyang and supply ship Taihu. Chinese Ambassador to Luanda Gao Kexiang, Military Attache Xu Xiaosong, representatives of the Angolan navy and hundreds of Chinese expatriates in Angola bid farewell to the fleet.
During the visit, Commander of the task force Li Chengpeng met with city officials of Luanda, senior officers of the Angolan navy. Staff members of the fleet visited Angolan navy's warships and exchanged expertise with their Angolan counterparts.
Li Pengcheng said Chinese sailors met with warm reception and friendship from the Angolan navy and local people, and Chinese navy expected to cooperate with Angolan navy on peace keeping and international security, and the visit by the Chinese fleet further promoted mutual trust and understanding between the two navies.
During the visit, the Chinese sailors also staged a basketball friendly match with the Angolan navy as part of its efforts to promote the exchange of military culture. Yancheng and Luoyang remained open to the public.
