The 17th Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment to the Democratic Republic of Congo (K) was recently invited to participate in the celebration of the 25th founding anniversary of the SOS Children's Village at Bukavu, a city in eastern Congo (K).

Members of the Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment put on brilliant performances together with the staff and children at the SOS Children's Village.

Founded in 1989, the SOS Children's Village has helped thousands of children and teenagers in eastern Congo (K) who lost their families in war, poverty and disease over the past 25 years.

The Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment to Congo (K) established relationship with the children's village in 2005, and has never stopped providing assistance to it even though the peacekeeping members have been rotated several times.

After long years of exchange and interaction, the "Chinese element" has left a deep impression on the children. Many children there can speak simple Chinese, describe the Great Wall, and even play Tai Chi and Chinese kung fu.

According to Narcy, head of the children's village, it is the arrival of the Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment that brought vigor and vitality to the children's village. Their efforts have built a bridge of communication between the people of China and Congo (K), and reinforced the relationship between the two countries.
