The 87th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was celebrated on Thursday at the Chinese embassy in Belgrade with the presence of Serbian state and military officials and diplomats of other countries.
In the welcoming speech, Chinese ambassador Li Manchang greeted guests, including Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic, chief of the general staff of the Serbian Army general Ljubisa Dikovic.
Chinese military attache in Serbia, senior colonel Wang Haibin, said that Chinese and Serbian armies have a high level of cooperation, with frequent mutual visits and consultations.
"This May Serbia faced catastrophic floods so the Chinese defence ministry donated assistance in technical and medical equipment as a sign of true friendship between the two nations and armies," Wang said.
On the occasion of the Chinese Army Day, he said that the Chinese army fulfils its purpose to this day securing unity and safety of its country.
"At the same time it participates in UN peace missions constantly cooperating with armies across the world and it is dedicated toward maintaining peace in the world," he said on Thursday.
