The 4th Military Life Experience Camp for Hong Kong College Students was officially kicked off at the San Wai Barracks of the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on August 3, 2014, marking that 92 students from 14 colleges and universities in Hong Kong began their 15-day-long military life.
The participating students of the camp will carry out physical training, basic formation training, firing practice and on-foot marching, attend lectures on national defense and military knowledge, visit the barracks of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, and join the recreational and sports activities, according to sources.
The students were divided into two male platoons and two female platoons according to the establishment of the PLA to show military features.
Outstanding servicemen of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison were assigned as training instructors to give targeted trainings to the young people based on their physical and psychological characteristics.
It is learnt that the PLA Hong Kong Garrison has held 10 consecutive military summer camps for teenagers and three military life experience camps for college students since 2005 and 2,425 teenagers have taken part in the activities.
