The United Nations military observers course (UNMOC), jointly organized by the Peacekeeping Affairs Office of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and the Peacekeeping Center of the MND of the People's Republic of China (PRC), was unveiled in Beijing on September 1, 2014. A total of more than 40 instructors and trainees from 15 countries attended the UNMOC.

27 courses and 18 comprehensive drill subjects will be set up for the three-week-long UNMOC, including the basic theories such as peacekeeping operation policies, principles, missions and laws as well as the professional skills such as observation and report, negotiation and liaison, kidnapping and hijacking response, and identification of unexploded explosives, which are necessary for the military observers to master for their missions.

The UNMOC organized by the Chinese military not only aims to strengthen the international exchange and cooperation in the peacekeeping field and cultivate and reserve the high-quality talents for the UN peacekeeping operations, but also to upgrade the international and standardized level of the Chinese military's peacekeeping training so as to make more contributions to the UN peacekeeping operations and world peace, according to a person in charge of the Peacekeeping Affairs Office of the MND.
