117 veterans in Anti-Japanese War get assistance

The Beijing Zhiyuan Foundation for Concerning and Caring for Heroes, a commonweal organization in Beijing, recently carried out a charitable donation activity for the Anti-Japanese War veterans.

117 poverty-stricken veterans who served in the China Expeditionary Force and engaged in the Anti-Japanese War in western Yunnan Province of China became the first group of veterans to receive assistance.

Each of the veterans will get a living subsidy of 8,000 Yuan per year. The subsidy will be distributed every year to help them spend their remaining days happily.

According to sources, the Beijing Zhiyuan Foundation for Concerning and Caring for Heroes is a commonweal organization sponsored by some descendants of the proletarian revolutionaries of older generations and joined by caring people from all walks of life.

Since its founding, the Foundation has been devoted to caring for those who have made contributions to their country and are now living a hard life, and caring for their families. It's said that up to now, the Foundation has helped nearly 1,000 people nationwide.
