The latest generation of multi-purpose tactical vehicles used by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has passed a range of tests and will soon be commissioned to all the branches of the Chinese military.
Described as a "medium-size high-mobility universal tactical vehicle", the new models have been approved after trials involving full-load and long-distance maneuvering under low pressure and tough conditions at high altitudes.
The main model among the third-generation of PLA vehicles, this workhorse has a unified chassis and is built to meet a wide variety of operational demands.
The vehicles may be refitted into oil supply trucks and ammunition trucks, or be equipped with artillery and missiles and turned into mobile firepower platforms. They may also be equipped with information equipment and turned into command vehicles, reconnaissance cars or electronic warfare vehicles.
These military vehicles have 100 percent proprietary intellectual property rights, and all key parts, such as engine and transmission, are independently designed and produced.
The vehicles can maintain strong power at altitudes above 5,000 meters, and operate in conditions ranging from - 41 C to 46 C. They are equipped with automatic transmissions, anti-explosion tanks, body protection components and more.
