The China-US new type of military relations proposed by President Xi Jinping will play an important role in the two countries' future military cooperation, according to the Ministry of National Defense on Friday.

The proposal got active response from Obama, and the two countries' defense departments and armed forces held about a dozen rounds of consultation and communication thereafter.
The two heads of state announced in Beijing on Wednesday the signing of of the mutual trust mechanisms.
Both the Chinese and US armies should take the codes as an opportunity to push military cooperation and mutual trust to a new level, and differences should be properly handled and potential risks identified, the ministry quoted Xi as saying.
Xi also said China would like to deepen exchanges between senior officers of the two armed forces, smooth communication mechanisms and conduct more joint training and drills exercises with the United States.
