The sunken cargo vessel "Xinchuan 8," which split in half and sank in the Yangtze River in Nanjing almost a year ago, is shown after being salvaged yesterday morning. The craft was carrying 12,539 tons of limestone when it sank after colliding with a pier of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge in Jiangsu Province as it tried to pass through last May 12. All 18 crew members on board were rescued, but the river's flood season hampered salvage efforts until now. The boat was finally taken out of the water some 3.5 kilometers from the bridge at 9:30 yesterday morning.
