Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 AD)
The most significant change to fashion during the Qing Dynasty is the use of buttons. As opposed to keeping robe-like garments in place with sashes and belts, buttons were sewn and utilized, making the clothes easier to wear and greatly enhancing mobility. Higher collars were preferred and necks were almost always covered up. Women also began wearing loose-fitting pants during the Qing Dynasty. Blue, pink, white and red were popular colors. Mink and fox fur were often made into jackets for the winter. It is worthy to note that the Manchurians made several attempts to ban foot binding but failed.
