Senior Chinese official Zhou Yongkang on Friday called for deeper reforms to China's judicial system to maintain social equity and justice.
Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting on judicial system reform held in Beijing.
Zhou said further actions are needed so that more people can share the fruits of the country's judicial system reform and development.
The revision of China's Criminal Procedure Law is one of the important tasks of the judicial system reform, and judicial organs should finish the draft amendment as soon as possible, the official said.
Local judicial organs should be wary about the debt problems in infrastructure construction and spend their budgets in a frugal way, Zhou said.
He said 2012 will be an important year for the country's judicial reform to realize practical effectiveness, and all judicial organs should make more efforts to promote the reform.
