A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has urged scientific social management methods that cater to different regions in order to ensure local people's livelihoods and development.
Zhou Yongkang, secretary of the Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks Tuesday at a seminar on social management innovation.
"Various regions and Party departments should focus on solving issues that pose threats to regional balance and sustainable development, striving to narrow the gap between urban and rural areas as well as the income gap among people," said Zhou, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
Calling for ensuring the livelihoods for the migrant population, Zhou said a more service-oriented social management approach that will boost harmony and earn people's support is needed.
In addition, Zhou urged for an emphasis on people's scientific and moral qualities and guidance for them to fulfil their social and family obligations.
According to Zhou, six inspection teams will be dispatched to review and assist social-management innovation in various regions.
