China hopes relevant countries will make more effort to promote regional peace, stability and development, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said on Tuesday.

He was speaking in response to the trilateral dialogue between the U.S., India and Japan in New Delhi.

"It is in the interests of all countries in the region," Hong said.

China has always maintained that all countries should cooperate, promote common development and realize common security on the basis of equality, mutual trust and collaboration, he said.

Media reports said senior officials of the U.S., India and Japan held their third trilateral dialogue in New Delhi on Monday to enhance cooperation on combating piracy, maritime security and leveraging their strengths to shape the Asia-Pacific architecture.
