Co-op, development are common interests of East Asia

In the past 10 years, cooperation and development left deep imprint to East Asia's growth. In the past 10 years, China fused itself into East Asia and promoted East Asia cooperation in more areas.

It is far more difficult to promote integration in East Asia than elsewhere because of its diversity.

China advocates equality among countries regardless of the size. China is the first member of the ASEAN dialogue partners to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia and to establish strategic partnership with ASEAN, with other countries such as Japan, South Korea and India following suit by establishing a new relationship with ASEAN.

China donated 10 billion U.S. dollars as the China-ASEAN Investment Cooperation Fund, and provided ASEAN with credit support of 25 billion U.S. dollars to jointly tackle the international financial crisis.

China strengthens non-traditional security cooperation with ASEAN to jointly meet natural disasters, infectious diseases and other serious challengers.

East Asia's uniqueness determines that regional cooperation has to be open and inclusive.

China upholds consensus, openness, transparency, and inclusiveness in East Asia cooperation, and is instrumental in the adoption of East Asia cooperation philosophy.

China adopts an open and inclusive attitude to the joining of the outside forces, and properly deals with its relationship between other parties, maintaining its own fundamental interests, safeguarding regional cooperation and development.

The international financial crisis has entered the fifth year, characterized by weak recoveries of the European and U.S. economies. No region in the world has greater economic vigor and potentials than Asia. The future of East Asia cooperation will mean much more for the international community.
