China congratulates Palestine's upgraded UN status

China's permanent representative to the UN, Li Baodong, has congratulated the Palestinians on gaining upgraded status from "entity" to "non-member state" in the UN.

Li Baodong, Chinese Permanent Rep. to UN, said, "The vote fully demonstrates the broad support of the international community for the just cause of the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate national right."

Li Baodong said, it is a further international recognition of the State of Palestine, and another positive development on its road to independent statehood. China has always supported Palestine to take part in international organizations, and stressed an independent state is the basis for realizing peace and stability in the Middle East region.

Li Baodong also called for international communities to make positive and constructive efforts toward the peace talk between the Palestinians and Israel.
