A senior Communist Party of China (CPC)official on Wednesday called for strengthening research on Party building and promoting innovations with valuable theoretical achievements.

Zhao Leji, head of the Organization Department of CPC Central Committee, made the comments at a forum held by the department on the study and promotion of the spirit of the 18th CPC National Congress, which convened last month.

The forum also marked the 25th anniversary of the founding of the department's research office for Party building.

He also urged researchers to strengthen research on major issues concerning the Party building with a persistent sense of responsibility.

He said research should focus on the most imperative issues in Party building and organization as well as those involving the public's greatest concerns.

Researchers should make practical and careful efforts in their investigations and research, maintain a truth-seeking attitude in the theoretical study, and propose pragmatic policies and measures, the official said.

He called for profound learning of the congress spirit as well as the newly-amended CPC Constitution and the recent speeches of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee in the research work.

He also told researchers to serve the cause of Party building with progress in theoretical research so as to promote innovations in the system and in practise.

Research on Party building should take the theme of the 18th CPC National Congress as its spirit and work on issues of the Party's basic theories, basic lines, guiding principles, experiences and requirements, Zhao said.

He called on the researchers to improve their understanding of political affairs and their researching capabilities.

He further called for a better environment and atmosphere for Party building research.
