As the UN climate change conference draws to the end, China has urged a comprehensive, balanced, and positive package of agreements to be reached in Doha.
At a joint press conference held by the basic bloc - China, Brazil, South Africa and India, China's top climate change envoy, Xie Zhenhua, said progress had been made. He said he hoped the extension of the Kyoto Protocol and a decision on funding would be agreed at the conference. He said a midterm target, as a quantities figure, is needed to guarantee that the long term financing target is reached.
Xie Zhenhua, Vice Minister, National Development & Reform Commission, said, "Differences still remain. We call for all parties to take a flexible attitude and produce an outcome, which may not appeal to everyone, but which all can agree to. It should be a comprehensive and balanced package."
