China condemns Boston Marathon attack

China has condemned the attack against the Boston Marathon. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying made the statement at a regular news conference in Beijing. She added that one Chinese student was among the injured.

She said, "China strongly condemns and firmly opposes any violent attacks against civilians. We express our deepest grief over the people's death, and send our sincere condolences to the victims and their families. According to preliminary reports, one female Chinese student was injured in the bombings, and is being treated in a local hospital. The Chinese consulate in New York has sent people to visit her in the hospital."
