China is committed to promoting peace, stability and development between Sudan and South Sudan, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday.
Wang made the comments while meeting with Stephen Dhieu Dau, special envoy of South Sudan's President Salva Kiir, in Beijing.
As a permanent member of the UN security council and a responsible country, China has always been committed to safeguarding the overall and fundamental interests of developing nations, said Wang.
Regarding relations between South Sudan and Sudan, Wang said China will continue to take an objective and just position on the issue, and will promote peaceful negotiations between the two countries in resolving their differences.
On July 1, Sudan and South Sudan concluded talks in Khartoum and issued a communique in which they reiterated their commitments to dialogue and negotiation in settling their differences.
China is ready to work with South Sudan to promote a comprehensive and in-depth development of bilateral cooperation, Wang said.
Dhieu spoke highly of the development of ties with China and appreciated its help in developing South Sudan.
South Sudan appreciates China's positive role in promoting the resolution of disputes between South Sudan and Sudan, and is willing to enhance communication with China in this regard, he said.
Also on Thursday, Chen Zhu, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, met with Dhieu.
