China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke by phone with his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh on Thursday to expound on China's position over the violence in Egypt on Wednesday.
Wang said that China is paying heightened attention to development of the situation in Egypt and is deeply concerned about it.
China hopes all the parties concerned in Egypt will, by proceeding from the fundamental interests of the nation and the people, exercise the maximum restraint, avoid more casualties of people, defuse their differences through dialogue and consultation, and restore the public order and social stability.
China believes that the Egyptian people will be able to overcome the current difficulties and challenges in realizing national stability and development.
