Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Wednesday that the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Cambodia would further strengthen and expand relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking during the meeting with Wang at the capital's Peace Palace, Hun Sen warmly greeted Wang's visit to Cambodia and said the visit would bring closer relations and cooperation between the two countries, Prak Sokhonn, minister attached to Prime Minister Hun Sen, told reporters after the two-hour meeting.
"Both sides had discussed ways to further heighten bilateral relations and cooperation," he said.
Meanwhile, Hun Sen said that he would attend the 10th China- ASEAN Expo in Nanning City of China's Guangxi province early next month, where he would have a bilateral talk with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in order to advance the bilateral ties and cooperation.
He also briefed Wang about Cambodia's situation after the election.
In response, Wang conveyed best wishes from Chinese leaders, particularly from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, to Hun Sen.
He said his visit to Cambodia was to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation and to express China's particular attention to maintain and further promote bilateral ties with Cambodia.
Wang also extended his congratulations to Hun Sen on the victory of the Cambodian People's Party in the general election last month and hoped that Cambodian political parties would solve remaining problems related to the election peacefully.
Wang arrived in Cambodian capital at Tuesday night for a two- day official visit to further enhance the bilateral ties and cooperation.
