Chinese FM urges improvement of relations with Vietnam

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, at a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh at the United Nations headquarters on Thursday, urged full-scale improvement of relations between China and Vietnam.

During the meeting, Wang Yi said that as China and Vietnam are traditional friendly neighbors, the new Chinese government attaches great importance to relations with Vietnam and is willing to work together with Vietnam to make closer bilateral high-level contacts, deepen pragmatic cooperations, bring sensitive issues under control, and enhance coordination and cooperation on international and regional issues and keep promoting the comprehensive relations of strategic cooperation and partnership between the two countries to higher levels.

Speaking on the same occasion, Phan Binh Minh congratulated China on the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China that falls on October 1, and expressed his best wish for China to make greater achievements in economic development.

He said that as both Vietnam and China are socialist countries, Vietnam is willing to strengthen all-round cooperation with China in political, economic and humanistic fields, etc, to appropriately handle maritime differences and to elevate the bilateral partnership to higher levels.
