Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Nam Hong will visit China in January at the invitation of Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei announced on Sunday.
Hor Nam Hong and Yang will co-chair the first meeting of intergovernmental coordinating committee between China and Cambodia in Beijing, said Hong.
Chinese President Xi Jinpingmet with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference in April, the two sides deciding to establish an intergovernmental coordinating committee to carry out the action plan on the China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation and push forward bilateral cooperation in all fields.
According to the spokesman, Hor Nam Hong and Yang will chair the intergovernmental coordinating committee and officials from government departments will be its members, while the two countries will take turns to hold the annual meeting.
Hong said the current China-Cambodia relationship is developing soundly, and leaders from the two countries have reached consensus on China-Cambodia friendly relations.
He said China and Cambodia will make a plan for further development in the meeting in January and explore general ideas and specific measures of cooperation in various fields, adding that the meeting will play a positive role in advancing the China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.
