China's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday responded to Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party's (LDP) attempts to amend Japan's constitution.
"Japan's path is a major concern to Asia's peace, stability and development," spokesman Hong Lei said at a daily news briefing.
Hong's comments came after reports on Sunday that the LDP had adopted a working policy to hold gatherings across the country focused on rewriting the pacifist Japanese Constitution.
The policy also mandates changes to school textbooks and visits the Yasukuni Shrine.
China urged Japan to reflect on its history of aggression, acknowledge its mistakes on the Yasukuni Shrine and change track, Hong added.
