A total of eight Chinese lawmakers on Tuesday proposed that the National People's Congress (NPC) evaluate on annual reports of all 25 State-level ministries and committees.
"Leaders of all State-level ministries and committees are selected by the NPC, so it is necessary for them to report their work in the past year to the deputies of the conference," Huang Xihua, a NPC deputy said. The current annual NPC will assess work reports from central government, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate. Central ministries and committees don't need to provide their reports separately.
In annual meetings for local-level lawmakers and political advisors, delegates can assess separate work reports from all government departments and this move has been applauded by the public, Huang said.
Another NPC deputy, Wang Rusong, said that the deputies should give the yellow card to those who haven't done their job well, Beijing Youth Daily reported on Tuesday.
