A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday that parties of the Korean Peninsula should do things that are conducive to easing the situation.

Qin Gang made the remarks when asked about China's response to live-fire drill held by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

"The China side has noticed relevant reports, and we hope that parties concerned do things that are conducive to easing the situation and maintaining peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula," Qin said.

The DPRK began its live-fire drill on Tuesday afternoon near the disputed inter-Korean border islands.
