The da Vinci surgery robot completes its first operation at the Provincial People's Hospital in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan province on September 9, 2014. As the only device in the world that can perform robotic surgery on humans, it successfully removed a patient's gallbladder within half an hour. The entire operational system cost more than 30 million yuan ($4.9 million) and features a control panel, a 3D vision system and flexible arms that easily bend and rotate.
