Lanterns to light up Confucius Temple (6/6)

Lanterns are prepared for the upcoming festivals at the Confucius Temple in Nanjing, East China’s Jiangsu province, Feb 3, 2015. The temple, originally constructed in 1034 in the Song Dynasty, was a place to worship Confucius, the great philosopher and educator of ancient China. The Qinhuai River that runs in front of the temple is usually also well decorated with colorful lanterns for the Spring Festival (China’s Lunar New Year), which falls this year on Feb 19, and Lantern Festival, celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunar calendar.
