The Tibetan name of Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, is Qomolangma, which means "Holy mother" and represents the mother goddess of the Earth. Besides enthusiastic mountaineers, the world's most famous mountain attracts hoards of scientists and tourists.The top of the mountain is covered with snow all the year round, and looks magnificent in bright sunlight. The region is also home to several national reserves which are home to many precious plants and animals.
