Tourists walk on a beach covered by algae in Beihai city, Southwest China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Feb. 26, 2015. The algae has been invading Beihai’s coastal area in winter and spring for some years in a row. Experts attributed the invasion to land-based sources of pollution, such as wastewater discharged from factories. The clustered algae, while not harmful to health, is quite a nuisance to tourists.
