Seagulls search for food as tide recedes near the Zhanqiao Pier in Qingdao, East China’s Shandong province, March 10, 2015. The 440-meter-long, 8-meter-wide strip pier, with one pavilion at the end, was the first wharf of Qingdao, and today becomes a favorite place for tourists. For the past 20 years, Qingdao has been a winter habitat for more and more migratory seagulls, which usually fly back to their breeding sites in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province and Siberia as temperatures rise in March and April.
