Passengers take a train on the underground railway line connecting Beijing’s two major railway stations, March 20, 2015. The K7742 train from Shijiazhuang in Hebei province stops at the two stations before arriving at its destination Chengde, also in Hebei province. It takes 15 minutes for the train to travel the underground section, compared with the usual 40 minutes for passengers to transfer between the two stations using other public transport. Most passengers travelling to China's north and northeast have to depart from Beijing Railway Station, while those heading for the south board their trains at Beijing West Railway Station. The completion of the direct line between the two stations also marks the connection of the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and the Beijing-Harbin Railway, two major railway lines in China.
