People walk in a lane where a willow tree has been cleared away in Maotanchang town, East China's Anhui province, June 3, 2015. A high school in Maotanchang town is known to have large numbers of pupils accepted into prestigious Chinese universities. Prior to the national university entrance exams, many parents prayed to an old willow tree, which was located inside the school and had branches overhanging a lane, believing it would bring luck and high test scores to their children. Parents burning incense near the tree almost caused a fire on June 1, forcing authorities to cut down the tree and hang banners instead to encourage students. (Photo: China News Service/Han Suyuan)
