Liu Jingchong is a native from south China's Guangdong Province. He used to enjoy an annual income of over one million yuan, or 160,000 US dollars. Two years ago, he became fed up with the extravagant urban lifestyle after a car accident and decided to live as a hermit. Liu then left all of his positions and liquidated his possessions. He moved to a remote hut on the Zhongnan Mountain in northwest China's Shaanxi Province to divert attention to his inner mind. For two years, Liu lived a simple life. He awoke at 9 o'clock every morning and went to bed early at night. He ate only one or two meals each day and spent most of his time meditating, reading, and practicing calligraphy. (Photo: CFP)
