Soldiers of a frontier defense battalion of the Tibet Military Region in Gangba are devoted to the area. Gangba, meaning "village under snow mountain" in Tibetan, is formed by icy peaks and snowcapped mountains with average altitude of around 4,810 meters. Oxygen content here is only 40 per cent of that in other parts of China.
