A gondolier in traditional Venetian costume offers tourists in the port city of Dalian a taste of Venice – without the hassle of travelling to Italy on October 16, 2015. The copycat version of Venice will be fully opened to the public in Dalian, Northeast China’s Liaoning province in May of 2016. The ambitious construction project, dubbed the “Oriental Venice”, mimics the famous Italian city and its tourist attractions. The mini-sized “city of water”, which covers area of 400,000 square meters, cost five billion yuan ($790.15 million) to build. It was constructed by the Chinese theme park operator Haichang Holdings to boost tourism in Dalian. (Photo/CFP)
