Ye Xuechen, 23, opened a studio after she graduated from university. Besides teaching students to paint, she also restores ancient books, paintings and ceramics. As a restorer of ancient books, one needs to have knowledge of textual bibliography, printing history, aesthetics, chemistry, history and theory of Chinese books. At the same time, having a thorough understanding of paper selection for books of different dynasties, binding and layout styles of many areas is a must.
