"Botero in China," the first exhibition for the world-renowned artist in the Chinese mainland, features 96 pieces of Botero's most representative artworks, including 81 oil paintings and 15 drawings. Botero was born in Medellin, Colombia, in 1932 and is frequently mentioned as one of the world's most important living artists. He is well recognized for both his paintings and sculptures created in a unique style through his exploration of volume and color. The 83-year-old artist came to China for the first time and brought with him dozens of artworks, spanning the 1970s to the present, all of which were selected from his personal collection. The retrospective exhibition contains six parts that are closely connected to his artistic career, including "Everyday Life in Latin America," "Still Life," "The Bullfight," "The Circus," "Versions: Evoking" and his drawings.
