Shanghai Customs officers inspect masks that turned out to be fakes. They seized nearly 120,000 counterfeit masks that carried the “3M” trademark, officers said on December 8, 2015. The crackdown on counterfeits was part of a national campaign that was intended at improving the overseas image of “Made in China” products. Shanghai Customs has investigated 30 such cases involving more than 2.3 million yuan (US$358,308). Most of the masks were bound for the African markets. The seized goods were destroyed after 3M representatives confirmed them as fakes. The company said the products were of poor quality. (Photo/Weibo account of CNTV)
