Coins and notes are seen in a case displaying the remains of a hanging coffin at a museum in Wushan, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality. Some visitors toss money inside for good luck, but the notes and coins have covered the remains in the coffin. Coffin-hanging is an ancient funeral custom performed by some minority groups. The coffins were placed on beams projecting from vertical faces such as mountains, put inside caves in the faces of cliffs, or set on natural rock projections. It was said that hanging coffins could prevent bodies from being taken by beasts, and also bless the souls of the deceased eternally. (Photo/West China Metropolis Daily)
