Heavy duty machines are used to clean coal fire area in Urumqi City, the capital of Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, April 6, 2016. The State Council, China’s cabinet, has given priority to fight the underground smouldering of the coal deposit at Urumqi’s Daquanhu Coal Mine from 2016 to 2025. The coal fire area covers 310,000 square meters and consumes coal deposits of 217,000 tons a year, also threatening another coal reserve of 11.3 million tons.
