Baipu yellow rice wine is a specialty in Nantong, Jiangsu province. The orange-colored wine has a strong fragrance but tastes sweet and mellow. It is made from local polished round-grained rice, sticky rice and wheat grains. Low in sugar and alcohol and rich in nutrition, it can be used as a beverage, a cooking wine and as a solvent for traditional Chinese medicine. In 2010, the brewing technique of Baipu yellow rice wine was listed as an intangible cultural heritage of Nantong.
