Students study at the Changzhou Foreign Languages School in Changzhou City, East China’s Jiangsu Province. About 500 students at the school, which was built close to a toxic waste dump, have reportedly been affected since late 2015 by ailments including nosebleeds, headaches, coughs, rashes and, in the worst instances, lymphoma and leukaemia. Classes reportedly began before the completion of an environmental impact report warning the area’s groundwater and soil had been contaminated. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Jiangsu provincial government have set up a joint investigation team to look into health issues at the school. (Photo/Xinhua)
