A rare whale shark is caught at a harbor in Beihai City, Southwest China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Pictures show a whale shark was slaughtered and hung up in the Beihai harbor hours after a whale shark was spotted in the wild near an offshore oilfield. It’s unclear if they are the same marine mammal. Local police seized two suspects, Liao and Huang, for trading endangered wildlife. Liao said he purchased the shark, which weighed 370 kilograms, paying one yuan per kilogram, and then sold it for 2.5 yuan per kilogram to Huang, who used to feed fish. The country's marine bureau are still investigating and verifying the case.(Photo provided to China News Service)
