The Zuojiang Huashan rock painting, from Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has been listed on the World Heritage List at the UNESCO World Heritage Committee's 40th Session in Istanbul, Turkey, today. It is the first time China's rock painting has been listed as a world heritage. The new heritage includes 38 places in Guangxi that have rock paintings, 109 cites of the paintings, and 4,050 images. Among those places, Ningming county beholds the most plentiful Huashan rock paintings that also cover the largest unit area. Now, the total number of China's world heritage amounts to 49, second only to Italy.
