“Red envelope war” -- a new promotion campaign by Chinese online retailers
Before the Double 11 Carnival 2016, citizens gathered to collect digital red envelopes on phone. Many elderly people stopped their square dancing to join this “red-envelope war”. Most of them got at least 100 yuan($14.6), and one got more than 1,000 yuan. They were told that the red packet could be used in purchasing on the day of Nov.11.
